ink jet utility can't detect any printers on a MG 7700 series printer

My Canon MG7720 printer is connected to my home Wi-Fi, my Laptop is connected to the Wi-Fi. I can use my word processor to print documents, I can print pictures from my windows photo program. I installed Ink Jet utility and it tells me it can’t detect any printers! I want to tell the printer to scan some documents, what have I done wrong?
