MX495: black vertical lines when feeding scanner via ADF

This topic has past threads, but the strange phenomena described here merit opening a new thread.

At first I tried cleaning the narrow glass area where paper passes when fed via the ADF. However the scan results may imply that cleaning is not the right solution:
- When a blank page is ADF fed, the vertical black lines appear on the left side of the scanned page.
- When a page which contains printed text is scanned, the streaks appear on the right side of the page, and the left side is clear.
This happens regularly and does not change. Is there a technical explanation?
