PIXMA MG7720 Random trouble printing CDs - Support Code 1001

My MG7720 doesn't recognise the CD print tray randomly. Sometimes I have to insert it 3-4 times before it recognises the tray and CD. Nothing different between the times it accepts it and the times it doesn't. Very frustrating. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be?
