Printer is slow, will not print long document, keeps starting from the beginning

I have a PIXMA MG5720 that I've used for more than a year. I am trying to print an 85-page pdf document. A simple text document. I have tried printing several times, each time clearing the queue. The printer takes several minutes to print each page. It will print a few pages and then start over printing from the beginning. I left to eat lunch and it was still printing an hour later. It had printed roughly half of the 85 pages and then started over from page one -- wasting a TON of ink and paper.

What the heck is going on? Why won't it just PRINT?

In order to better assist you, allow me to ask a couple questions:

Is printing slow when printing from other programs?
Which version of Windows or Macintosh are you using?
Is the printer is Quiet Mode?
