    <description>&lt;P&gt;I use a Mac desktop with 10.11.6 (El Capitan) O.S. and have no problem printing wirelessly but when using laptop with same O.S. and on same network, I get either "printer not connected" or "software needs updating".&amp;nbsp; Any ideas what I can try?&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Hi Bettybell,&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;With the information provided, it appears that the driver may need to be updated. Although there is not a driver available for OS X El Capitan, the driver for Yosemite may provided the driver settings that you need. The following steps will assist you:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;On your computer open this email and click &lt;A href="https://www.usa.canon.com/internet/portal/us/home/support/details/printers/support-inkjet-printer/mx-series/pixma-mx860/pixma-mx860#drivers_downloads_tab" target="_blank"&gt;HERE &lt;/A&gt;to go directly to the download site.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Below the Drivers &amp;amp; Downloads tab, next to Operating System, you should see that your operating system has been detected.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Change the detected operating system to “OS X Yosemite v10.10.”&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;A little further below and to the right, click on the SELECT button next to the file titled, “MX860 series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 11.7.1.0 (OS X).”&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on the DOWNLOAD button.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;If you are asked if you want to save the file, do so.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Close the web browser, and go to your Downloads folder.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Double-click on the file titled, “mcpd-max-mx860-11_7_1_0-ea17_2.dmg.”&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;In the window that opens, double-click on the icon that appears as an open box with a yellow package inside.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;A welcome screen will appear, follow the on-screen instructions to install the software on your computer.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;STRONG&gt;Note&lt;/STRONG&gt;: If you are asked for a password, it is requesting your computer's log-in/administrative password.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;After successfully installing the printer driver, we are ready to adjust the printer in use. Please perform the following steps:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;OL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on the APPLE icon in the upper left of the system tray.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on SYSTEM PREFERENCES.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on PRINTERS &amp;amp; SCANNERS.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on the MX860 series Printer&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on the “-” (minus) sign at the bottom of the printer list, to remove the printer.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Confirm removing the printer from the printer list.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Perform steps 1-4 for each MX860 listed.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on the “+” (plus) sign at the bottom of the printer list.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;If the ADD window does not appear, click on ADD A PRINTER OR SCANNER.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;In the ADD window, you should see two MX860 series Printers listed under Printer Name. (It may take approximately 30 seconds for the second printer driver to appear.)&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Under Kind, they will be listed as Bonjour Multifunction and Canon IJ Network.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on the following listed printer:&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;UL&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Printer Name: MX860 series&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Kind: Canon IJ Network&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/UL&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Click on ADD in the lower right corner.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;LI&gt;&lt;DIV&gt;Close PRINTERS &amp;amp; SCANNERS.&lt;/DIV&gt;&lt;/LI&gt;&lt;/OL&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now that the driver has been updated, open a document you would like to print and bring up the printer dialog box. Within the printer dialog box adjust the required settings and perform a test print.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Did this answer your question?
