Perfect! Fixed right away, when the paper jammed the still wet ink must have brushed the encoder strip. Thanks.

At first I thought I had a misaligned printer head, but this looks like more than that. Notice that the patterns don't line up, and there are gaps. This started after a paper jam that was cleared according to instructions. Any suggestions what the problem may be?

Hi Tom4,

This issue can be caused if the encoder strip if there is a smudge on the encoder strip. The encoder strip is a small plastic strip with tiny vertical black lines on it that the print carriage uses with an optical sensor to read it's speed & position within the printer.

Follow this link for steps for Cleaning the Encoder Film.

Did this answer your question?
