Thanks for the reply.

The printer is connected to the laptop, which can print whether the imac is on or off.

What we did find, is that we deleted the printer from the system, re added. and found the pull down below had options.

Generic postscript had been selected incorrectly.

We chose the correct setting and it shows up properly now.

Felt a bit dumb.

Thanks again!

I have a 27” iMac and 15” Macbook Pro both running the latest Mojave OS.

I have had a Canon MG6320 connected for a few years now connected directly to the imac and sharing on the network with the MBP.

after some connection issues, I deleted the printer from the system and added it again.

It now shows with a different white printer icon and says it is a Generic Postscript Printer on the laptop's printer preferences

The icon on my imac remains the black Canon printer icon.

I installed the latest drivers to no avail.

Certain printing features no longer show. Such as grayscale printing and duplex.

Wondering what to do?

Thanks!

The MG6320 has both ethernet and wireless connectivity options.

I suggest you use your network capable printer in the following way:

-Connect it to your network via wired or wireless connection.

This way all devices on the network can print to the device without the need of having the iMAC turned on for sharing purposes.

This is much more reliable than the method you have employed currently.
