Control panel light won't go off. Pixma tr8520

This light has always gone out within a few minutes. I have two of these printers and they both have this problem. I just updated the firmware, maybe that's it. How can I turn these lights off?

Hi theweav,

I would make sure that the Auto Power Off setting has not been changed on the printer. Please click HERE and scroll down to the part of the article that cover using power saving function.

Once you are there make sure the Auto Power Off is set to the time you would like. If the Auto Power Off is set correctly and the control panel still wont turn off, troubleshooting with our support group will be needed to narrow down the cause of your issues. Please contact our support group at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666), Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM EST(excluding holidays).

For anyone with this problem: I have discovered that when the FAX is connected, the ECO does not work.
