topic PIXMA MX 310 won't work with Windows 7 (even with Canon's downloaded drivers) in Desktop Inkjet Printers

This multi-function printer originally worked with Windows XP.

But even after downloading Canon's drivers for Windows 7 (x64), this printer will not work: I keep getting a message saying that the computer does not recognize this printer.

Does anyone know what I should do?

Should I re-install the CD that originally came with this printer? (Would the old drivers on the CD interfere with the newer donwloaded Drivers?)

I thought that the drivers that are downloaded (from the Canon web site) are supposed to fix problems like this. I hope that someone has some advice that can help me.

I will eventually get a new printer when this one no longer works at all, but until then, I do need to know how to get this printer to work with Windows 7.
