Add Word or .txt document to existing off and jpg output format

Pixma MX490. When I scan a document, it will print a data version of pdf or jpg. I chose pdf for copy and paste. No text, no nothing will highlight. NO COPY AND PASTE option. Where can I download data format for Word or txt document printout?

You need to use scaning software that has OCR. (Optical Character Recognition) The printer by itself cannot do that.

What is the difference between pdf and jpg if neither of them has copy and paste option? The pdf might just as well be a jpg. They are both just an image and not any kind of text document
