Pixma MX922 prints wrong size with Mac Mojave

I am trying to use Pixma MX922 with an iMAC 2017 running Mojave OS 10.14.6.

I downloaded a new driver but it only prints what should be letter size documents at about a 3x5 corner of the page.

I previously had the same problem with another iMac running OS Sierra and El Capitan , but I had a workaround to always ask for a peview first and then I would print that. Always worked before but not anymore.

I even tried to set a custom print size of 8 1/2 x 11 but that didn't help. I only bought this printer 3 months ago.

Can this be fixed or did I waste money on the printer and if the latter what printer will work ?

To help narrow down possible causes, let me know what programs are being used, and what paper size shows by default in the system print window.
