Pixma MG2550 error 1687, even when no cartridge is in the printer.

I haven't printed anything for a long while, but used the scanner on occasion. Now I put a new crtridge in, genuine canon. I got got error 1687, gently cleaned the gold connecty bits on the cartridge and printer with a paper kitchen towel.

The yellow light keeps flashing without a cartridge inside.

-every piece of software is the newest version

-the cartridge is the correct type

-there's only 1 black cartridge, no colour

Hello.

The MG2550 is not a model that is sold here in the United States. However, this error may occur if either the wrong type of cartridge is installed, or if one of the slots are empty. Make sure that the correct inks are installed for your printer. It appears that this model uses PG-545 and CL-546 ink cartridges.
