Pixma G5020 Printing Purple Instead of Black

All of a sudden, my G5020 is printing purple instead of black.

It's been working absolutely ok and printing actual black up until now, but today, in the middle of a sheet, it started printing purple instead of black. I'm printing out the nozzle-check pattern, and even on that, now I'm seeing purple instead of black… intermittently.

See the nozzle print example, below. The blacks are purple.

Please help!

Follow up:

I had to do an ink flush to get it working again, which uses about half of your ink supply. Ugh.

Here's the thing, though: I'm printing in black and white, so why was the printer printing purple in the first place?

Having same problem with my TR8520, sometimes Black and White but mostly colors, and the colors do not duplicate the original work.
