Hello eberners!

PDF compression settings are specified through the application you're scanning documents into. Some applications have settings allowing you to adjust compression, but you'll want to check with the help options built into the application you're using. PDF compression should produce roughly the same file size from any scanner as long as the same color level settings/dpi settings are set in each scanner driver and the same PDF compression settings are being used.

Hope this helps!

I have a Canon all-in-one MX700 which has a scanner that gives decent photo scan quality and lousy text scan quality. The output file from a text doc scan runs 500 kB to 1 MB in size while a pdf version of the same doc will be about 30 kB. What can I expect from a Canon ImageFORMULA P-215 Scan-tini set for pdf output?
