I was searching a solution for b200. Some youtube uploaders suggest that you should through the printer out of your windows and buy a new one. But before trying this last solution why not give a chance to this article:

Canon Error B200

I had the B200 error. It was very frustrating. I read posts and followed the suggested steps.

1. Disconnected the printer.

2. Removed all ink cartridges.

3. Removed printer head.

4. Cleaned printer head with a Q Tip and alcohol.

5. Dried print head with canned air - this was probably unnecessary.

5a. Replaced all ink cartridges.

6. Left printer unplugged for an hour.

7. Turned printer on and got the B200 ERROR.

8. Unplugged printer.

9. Researched new printers for a couple of hours.

10. The printer had been unplugged overnight. I decided to try to use the computer commands to scan something even though the printer wouldn't print.

11. Plugged in the power.

12. The printer came on normally and works as always.

13. CONCLUSION - The alcohol needed overnight to thoroughly dry. I didn't find a new computer that I think would be better than or as good as the MX 860. It's four and a half years old.

Here's a fix that worked for me:

1. Turn OFF Power
2. Open the print head bay (as though you were about to change inks)
3. Turn ON power
4. Wait for print carriage to start moving to the left and let it go past half way
5. Before print carriage reaches left hand side (but after going halfway across) shut the cover.
6. Leave the Printer turned on
7. Good to go.

Here's what worked for me....

(and no this is not the same as everyone else's results)

1. Turn off power and leave plugged in.

2. Open lid and slide ink tray to the far left.

3. Press power button 5 times.

4. Close the lid and let the machine reboot.

At this point the printer should return to home screen. When I first did this I tried printing and the error returned. So I did it again and tried going to the Maintenance menu (on printer) and running a cleaning cylce, error returned. Printing a test page also resulted in error returning. What finally worked is after step 4 I placed a page on the scanner bed, and ran a black and white copy. It took several minutes but it finally spit out a page. So my step 5 is....

5 Open scanner lid and place document (with something on it) on scanner bed. Closer scanner lid.

6. Run black & white copy from printer menu.

If my last two steps don't work for you I suggest trying any other processes that might result in the printer actually having to print a page. Some people had results with the cleaning processes, copying worked for me.

And just a heads up to Canon, I called tech support and they ran me through a process similar to this but more elaborate that didn't work at all. They then basically said that the printer was worthless (because repair costs outweigh cost of new models).

Screw you Canon. The printer still works you just don't give a **bleep** about taking care of your customers because the model you have created (mentioned by someone else in this thread I believe) involves making crap disposable printers and making all your profit off the ink. This is disgusting and it creates a tremendous amount of electronic waste.

Companies with policies like this should be forced to pay for the costs of electronic waste disposal since they profit from its creation.

If you mean that when you try and push it to the left it won't move, then I would suggest unplugging it and moving it or unplugging it then plugging it back in and moving it. Sometimes just powering it on and off once will fix this as well. You will have to push it with a little bit of force though. Keep trying different things and eventually you will be able to slide it over to the left. But you have to do it with your hands, it will not slide over there on it's own.

Thank you SO much for the scanning suggestion! After going through every possible combination of unplugging, plugging in, turning on and off, cleaning the print head and replacing the ink cartridges, it was the scanning and copying trick that finally got me out the b200 error cycle. After printing the copy, I was able to run the cleaning cycle several times through the Maintenance menu, and that seemed to sort everything out. My printer is now happily printing away next to me (for how long, who knows - I'm just delighted it's working right now...).

My enthusiasm jinxed it: after printing about 25 pages, I got the error again. After letting the printer cool down for about an hour I was able to print again, but the printer is clearly not long for this world. Still, thank you - I managed to print the stuff I urgently needed to print!

When you do throw out your piece of crap Canon Printer, PLEASE TAKE IT TO AN ELECTRONICS RECYCLING FACILITY.

They are free in most areas nowadays and it's up to us to prevent companies like Canon from continuing to destroy our planet by making disposable products.

Removed the print head and carefully cleaned with water using a syringe to drop it on each nozzle and leaving it for a couple hours to wash through, then left to dry for a few hours. Also left the printer unplugged overnight. However, I still had the b200 error afterwards.

I tried the suggestion by bebebeck (reposted below) to turn the printer on with the lid up and close the lid as the print head moved to the left. I.e.

This consistently worked for me, clearing the b200 error and returning the printer to the main menu. Although printing didn't immediately work, I was then able to run the print head 'Cleaning' from the printer maintenance menu. Test page then printed and can now print docs again.
