Pixma TS5050 booklet printing on a chromebook

Using Google Docs on my PC, I can print a multi-page 2 sided booklet from a Google Drive file, using my TS5050. Yes I know I have to reverse the sheets half way through, but it works fine.

Using the same Google Drive file on my chromebook, the TS5050 print options do not include any form of 2-sided print.

I get the same result with pdf files.

Canon claim this printer is compatible with my chromebook, so why cannot I print on both sides?

I was hoping to migrate from a PC to chromebook, but this is a major problem for me.

Normal one-sided printing works fine.
