topic TS9521C won't print from rear tray in Desktop Inkjet Printers

I'm printing using 7x10 card stock. I printed most of my cards with a few stalls, that is, the printer complaining that there was no paper in the rear tray. I fixed these by restacking the paper, making sure the guides were set tight against the paper and making sure that the rear support was up to hold the card stock vertical.

This worked to get me through several printing stoppages. Now, no matter what I do, the printer refuses to print from the rear tray. The error is the same: Support Code 1000 There is no paper in the rear tray.

I tried adding more paper, so the stack was thicker. I tried a power cycle. Nothing works.

The printer seems to try to grab the page, but fails.
