Keep getting ink cartidge unrecognizable. replaced with Canon brand still getting error. Ive had this printer since 2014 and have printed many, many photos and have used canon and noncanon inks with no issues. Wondering if I should replace the printhead. Local repair guy said to just buy another one. Anyone have a good comparison to the 7120? It has 2 trays and prints excellent photos.

Ink tank not recognized. But I’ve replaced them all with no luck.

Hi sjmatlack,

Please remove all of the ink tanks and look inside of the printer to make sure that there isn't a foreign object blocking the ink tanks connection with the printer. If you are using 3rd party ink tanks, please try using genuine Canon ink tanks. If the error persists, your PIXMA MG7120 would require service. You are eligible for Canon's Upgrade Program. This is for out of warranty units which have been diagnosed to require service, or for some reason are incompatible with a new or upgraded system. This option allows you a one-time opportunity to purchase a replacement product, discounted from the list price.
