any chance of making it the EOS Remote app for android availble via Amazon Android marketplace? My device is not registered at Google Play, but apps from Amazon work just fine on it.

Canon doesn’t actually monitor this forum with an intention to address development issues. At most they’ll chime in to quote some fine print from a manual for warranty purposes.

Have you tried side-loading the app? Are you using a Kind Fire HD?
