Remote shooting was not included in the M5.

Hello soii29,

Like most of the EOS M series, the EOS M5 is not compatible with the Remote Shooting feature of EOS Utility. This information can be seen on page 36 of the EOS Utility manual (HERE), as well as in the capture from the manual below.
