topic Tethered filming possible with Powershot A590? in Camera Software

As you can see from the title, I have a very old Canon Powershot. My goal is to film a video while it's plugged into the computer so that I can see what's being filmed on my computer monitor. I believe this is called tethering. In my search of a way to do this I tried downloading two seperate video editing programs which are very basic and do not allow you to capture video within the program. I also downloaded digiCamControl which definitely does allow for capturing video however only for DSLR's. Many times in my search, I see EOS Utility recommended which sounds ideal. But, again, I do not have a DSLR (I wish!). Just an old point and shoot. So, is this just not possible to do with my camera? It sounds like such an easy thing to do but I'm coming up empty handed and getting frustrated. Any help is appreciated!
