Digital Photo Professional 4 Latest Version - Adjust Specific Area "Undo" Not Working

Is anyone else having this trouble? "Revert to Shot Settings" isn't working either. Version 4.21.30.0 on Windows 11 with all Windows updates up to date and operating off of local SSD.

It's annoying, and my workaround is to to a save on all files (easiest way to be sure is to navigate to a new folder "Yes to All" and then back) then go into the file to only specifically perform that function. Then, if I don't like the results I can just "No to All".

Just wondering if it is me or the software and others are experiencing the same issue. If the latter seems a call to Canon support to ensure it gets logged as a bug in the workflow is in order.

Same version on macOS.

Back arrow undo works for Specific Area adjustment.

Thanks John. Good to hear it works as I suspect macOS is at least 50% of the users. So either a Windows bug or just a my computer configuration issue.

I just checked mine Signif and it is the same, revert does nothing. I got back from a hiking trip to Taos late Friday night and then took some photos of Big Boy Saturday morning so it was a good opportunity to test.

I am using DPP 4.21.30.0 running under Windows 11 Pro for Workstations 25H2 on a HP Z8 G5 dual Xeon workstation with all software and drivers up to date.

There is an old saying about classic Detroit Diesel engines that if the oil stops leaking, then you have run out of oil. For DPP, if everything is working perfectly then recheck because you probably launched Photoshop by accident 🤣

I use DPP often and it does many things wonderfully but it has never had the same fit and finish as Canon's pro line of camera gear. Having now used it for over 2 decades, I suspect it will never receive the attention it needs.

I'm on Win 11 Pro upgraded from 10, whether that means anything I don't know, DPP 4 ver. 4.21.30.0 and both commands work for me. Tested on R5 and R5 II Raw files.

I went back and tested some of my DSLR shots and DPP works fine with them as well. I did switch the flip several times with all files tested trying to break it.

Seems it is working in Windows 11 Pro but not my Windows 11 Home (I should have been more specific in my OP), and I'm guessing Rodger may be on Home as well. Thanks for checking and helping narrow it down Newton.

I am using Win pro which is the only version that will work for multiple CPU workstations like my HP Z8 G5 (twin 28 core Xeon processors).

Windows, with its supporting fellow travelers, has become so complex that glitches are the norm rather than the exception. The issue is probably an odd interaction between DPP and one of the many drivers.

Ok, thanks for the info. I will just live with it and use the workaround, then, as it seems likely it is not consistently repeatable in the Canon development sandbox.

Hello, SignifDigits!

My wife has Win 11 Home on her HP laptop, so I just updated her OS and DPP to current and DPP works fine, so I doubt it's an OS issue. The primary difference in Home and Pro are networking features, but there are a few things under the hood that differentiate the two but I can't see them effecting DPP... But hey! It's been a while since I've needed to know such things 🙂

As Rodger mentioned, it could be a driver issue. But that would depend on your hardware and software configuration. Admittedly, our systems are conservatively set up with primarily graphics programs. My Win Pro systems are all 17" laptops built as "desktop replacements", so they work well for graphics.

I've been using DPP for a long time, along with other raster and vector graphics programs. In all of those years DPP has had issues just 3 times. One was the reason I joined this forum in 2014, which turned out to be a conflict with a file sharing program I was using (caused DPP to repeatedly hang for 3 or 4 seconds while it uploaded images). Uninstalling the app resolved the issue. I resolved the other 2 by uninstalling DPP, running the free version of CCleaner to clear my registry, then reinstalling DPP. If your issues are troublesome enough, I would suggest that you give that a try.

Thanks Newton. I actually came to the site because of DPP issue that was a configuration issue on my end, so we have that in common. I have CCleaner and will give it a whirl sometime soon. For now I'll just use the workaround and assume when it annoys me enough I will take time to address it. Thanks!

Even though MS says it’s not necessary, CCleaner registry cleaner was always successful in resolving issues I had when I was using a Windows machine.
