Canon 5D MK I in DPP4: Lens Data not available

I have cycled through a few editors the past few years and come back to DPP4. While software like Lightroom and Darktable can all find the lens im using, DPP4 says Lens Data: Not Available. I have installed the lens data for the lenses in question (EF 24-105 F3.5-5.6 IS STM, EF 50mm f1.4 USM, EF 70-200 F4L USM) and this has not resolved the issue.

Is there any way i can select which lens is used manually?

Greetings,

To my knowledge.CRW file type (5D mkI) are not supported in DPP4. You need to use DPP3 for the 5D mkI.

Otherwise you'll need to use products like DxO Photolab, Darktable, etc for editing. These products will also provide third party lens support if you go that route.

Seems to me that DPP should be backwards compatible. I seem to remember using it on a previous laptop on 1D4 and 1Ds3 files.

Also, if the lens information can be downloaded for exactly the same lens, then I would expect Digital Lens Optimizer to work. A camera that old does not read the data needed for DLO from the lens and add it to the raw file.

my 5D produces .CR2 files, which are listed in the supported files. DPP4 can certainly see which lens is in use, and even with the right lens selected, the lens data isnt available. Darktable can find the lens fine. For what its worth, this is a fresh install of DPP4 since i reinstalled windows last week.

Doing more research The 5D records in JPEG and .CR2. Canon stopped using the .CRW format in 2005 the same year the 5D was released which uses .CR2. So DPP4 reads the .CR2 (demonstrated by @Peter ) but why won't it incorporate valid lens data?

Possible solution?

Use the Canon lens registration tool which is included with the EOS utility to add the lens data to the camera's firmware.

You'll have to use EOS utility v2 to do this and shoot in RAW if it's possible.

Is your computer online to he Internet? Have you identified a destination folder?
