topic CRD what does increasing sharpness actually do to the clip? in Camera Software

Good Morning!

I am using CRD to process clips from my Canon C500mkii. Clips are shot in RAW 5952x3140. I mostly film wildlife and scenics--so sharpness seems like a good idea.

What does increasing the sharpness actually do to a clip? Is it destructive or add noise? I've tested a clip imported at 0 and then also at 10 and there is a noticeable difference. But if I crank out all my clips at 10, have I done something that I'll regret down the line?

Thanks!

When you increase the sharpening you are in reality adjusting the edge contrast on the entire image. If you over do the sharpening it will make the image look like a bad painting. Everything will have a very brittle look. A little bit goes a long way.😁

Thanks. I don't see that in the footage on my monitor--but it sounds like it's similar to sharpening in Photoshop. Bummer.
