    <description>&lt;P&gt;Something just occurred to me. &amp;nbsp;The installer could be attempting a web install. &amp;nbsp;Meaning the app you downloaded is not the actual application. &amp;nbsp;The actual application is saved somewhere on the web.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The camera is no longer supported, so the application might not still be available. &amp;nbsp;Web installer apps tend to be smallish files, just a couple of MB. &amp;nbsp;The actual application could be a couple hundred MB, or far more.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&lt;SPAN&gt;The message might be saying something else, that it tried to connect with the download and could not find it. !!!&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Trying to install Digital Camera Software v7.1 on Windows 11 Home, fully patched.&amp;nbsp; After selecting a region, and then Easy Installation or Custom Installation, it tells me "Could not connect to internet. An Internet connection is required to install this from CD.&amp;nbsp; Check your Internet connection, and try installing again."&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;I can only click OK, and go no further. Clearly I am connected to the internet, and have only one internet connection from this computer.&amp;nbsp; I had to turn off anti-virus before the installation attempt as this program (dcsw-7-1-0-1-9l downloaded from Canon 27 Dec 2025) gets blocked as malware otherwise.&amp;nbsp; I also turned off the firewall. Selecting a different region results in the same error.&amp;nbsp; Running as administrator results in the same error.&amp;nbsp; No luck.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Any ideas?&amp;nbsp; Thank you for any assistance.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I'm having the same issue ...&amp;nbsp; While I understand&amp;nbsp;&lt;SPAN&gt;Digital Camera Software v7.1&amp;nbsp;is not officially supported on Windows 11, it seems odd that the install can be launched and only several steps later does it report&amp;nbsp;"Could not connect to internet. An Internet connection is required to install this from CD.&amp;nbsp; Check your Internet connection, and try installing again."&amp;nbsp; Hopefully we can get someone from Canon Support to provide an answer to this post ...&lt;/SPAN&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Installers are written by Microsoft. &amp;nbsp;The default installation dialog is just a plain box. &amp;nbsp;Developers can customize the dialog window. &amp;nbsp;All developers have to do is tell the Installer the name of the app file and where to find it.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;So, yes, the Installer can be launched. &amp;nbsp;It’s built into the OS. &amp;nbsp;The install failed when it came time to retrieve the app file and install it on your OS.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;A while ago, some Canon installers came with a checkbox on the installers splash screen that allowed you to disable checking for a newer version of the software on Canon servers.&amp;nbsp; If available in this install, you can try that.&amp;nbsp; If that's not present, then its not an option for you,&amp;nbsp; Since the software is from 2016, it may not run or install under W11 unfortunately.&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Understood but, I downloaded the software installer from the section of the Canon support site specifically for the SX620 HS camera.&amp;nbsp; So, I would expect that if the software itself is no longer available for download they would have removed the ability to download the installer.&amp;nbsp; Anyway, I'd still like to hear from Canon on this matter.&lt;/P&gt;</description>
