Yes. DPP4 is an independent software that you download directly. Go to the support page for your camera and you will find it.
They are linked in the sense that you can have EOSU3 open DPP and EOSU will open DPP for remote shooting.

Hi.

My son has a lovely gift of a 2000d. Hexwants to use the DPP software but it asks for a WiFi connection which we cant get working.

Is there a software version that will just allow him to edit his photos without this WiFi faff?

Printerman580,

To the best of my knowledge, DPP is not Wifi dependent. You use it once your photos on are on your computer. There must be something else going on.

What software are you using to get your photos from the camera to the computer?

Or, are you trying to do remote shooting using DPP?

Actually, you don't strictly need software to do this. You can attach the two devices with a USB cable with the camera on one end, and the other end attached to a USB port on your computer, and your computer will recognize the camera as an external device as if it was a thumb drive. At that point, you can copy and paste.

Once the photos are on your computer, then you can load up the DPP software to do editing.

EOS Utility is a software that is designed to communicate with the camera using USB or WiFi connections, it can be used to transfer images from the card in the camera to the computer.

If your son has already removed the SD card from the camera and put it in a card reader in the computer then copied the images to the computer, they are ready to use Digital Photo Professional (DPP). You will need to run Digital Photo Professional from the Windows start menu, and then browse to the folder where you have copied the images. DPP does not use or need a WiFi connection to the camera to work.

Okay. Now that he has the photos on his computer, do as Brian said. Don't go to EOS Utility. Go directly to DPP. The EOS Utlity software handles the transfers. DPP handles the editing.

Instead of opening that EOSU file open EOSU3 directly.

Open the EOSU folder and then open the EOSU 3 folder.

Save the EOSU3 app as a shortcut.

I am showing a Mac but Windows is the same.

The folder is probably in a parent folder called Canon Utilities.

But, if he has already download the files from his SD card onto his computer there is no need for EOSU.

Just open DPP4 and locate the downloaded folder.

Your EOS 2000D does not even support WiFi connections to the Windows or Mac computers. I can only use the WiFi connection with the Canon Camera Connect App on a mobile device.

So this means you must either use a card reader as written above, and copy the images to your computer. You can USB cable to connect the camera to the computer, then running EOS Utility will detect the camera and transfer the images. However please make sure that the camera WiFi is disabled if you use a USB cable as the camera cannot operate its USB port when the camera wifi is switched on. You will find the WiFi setting in the setup menus page 3, look for Wi-Fi/NFC and make sure it is disabled to allow the USB port to work.

Ultimately a card reader is faster and simpler!

Are you talking about wanting to DOWNLOAD the DPP program, or having it already and wanting to USE it?

In the first case, you need an Internet connection, wired or WiFi.

In the second case, WiFi has nothing to do with DPP.

Thanks everyone but there is something not right here. I have no dpp add at all. I'm on windows. I can find the path to the utility and I have a eu3 folder in there but it does not contain any software

Do I have to actually connect the camera to instigate a further download of the DPP? I'd be surprised if I did. This seems silly to me.

I also do not have anything other than the utility in the start menu.

Are the utility and dpp two separate downloads and installs? If so that's the problem
