      <title>macOS and Android Canon camera apps not working</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;New firmware? Cool. When do you fix the apps?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I have a Macbook and an Android phone.&lt;BR /&gt;Neither the OSX pr Android App are working.&lt;BR /&gt;Considering the price of the product I would expect just a bit more, right?&lt;/P&gt;

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I was referring to EOS Utility on OSX. I have to use a Windows VM to get it to work reliably. This is not normal.&amp;nbsp;Tried reinstalling it 10x and tried multiple versions. Detects the camera only once, until I reboot the session entirely.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Now, the software I sent a video about is the Android version of Camera Connect, it's pretty obvious.&lt;BR /&gt;&lt;BR /&gt;I ended up resetting the settings of the R5 to factory default and that bug went away. Was clearly a bug in the settings of the Camera. I had reseted the networking settings and it wasn't enough.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;"When you get the connect to WiFi screen do you open the WiFi setting on your phone and select the camera?"&lt;BR /&gt;You don't see me doing it in the video because the application automatically switches from bluetooth to Wi-Fi. You aren't supposed to do that manually.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Anyway, lost more than 1H figuring a solution just for that issue. It's beyond annoying.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Such slow and buggy user experience in 2025 is just not normal.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Good morning,&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;The OP has actually brought up a good point.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I just posted to another thread about an R10.&amp;nbsp; In it I showed the old and new wireless connection standards.&amp;nbsp; Wi-Fi settings versus Communication settings.&amp;nbsp; With the new "communication" standard you don't open up Wi-Fi settings on the mobile device and select the camera's SSID.&amp;nbsp; This was a great backup and could usually be counted on with the previous standard, but the new one does it for you automatically now. I noticed this difference last month when I got my R50v.&lt;/P&gt;

&lt;P&gt;As far as there being a bug that wasn't resolved by you resetting communication settings. I don't necessarily agree with that assessment.&amp;nbsp; However, you got that side of things working with a full reset so we can focus on the Canon Connect App.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I have a Pixel 8 running Android 15, and latest Canon Connect app.&amp;nbsp; When I connect my R5 C, I open Wi-Fi settings and select the camera's broadcast.&amp;nbsp; When I connect the R50v It just connects automatically (as you describe) without me having leave the CC App.&amp;nbsp; I don't typically enable Bluetooth on my R5 C.&amp;nbsp; Just Wi-Fi and it connects every time.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;I do enable it on the R50v since I'm using it with a tripod grip that has the BR-E1 built in.&amp;nbsp; I'll do more testing today.&amp;nbsp; Two last thoughts.&amp;nbsp; Ensure you are logged in with your Canon ID on the Canon Connect App, &lt;STRONG&gt;and&amp;nbsp;&lt;/STRONG&gt;if you are using "VPN By Google" that it is disabled.&amp;nbsp; &lt;STRONG&gt;For reference&lt;/STRONG&gt;, the VPN that was included with a Google One subscription was deprecated in June 2024.&amp;nbsp; Its now called VPN By Google.&amp;nbsp; It needs to be off.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;I was connected and I don't have such VPN.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;However, what you described, about connecting directly to the Wi-Fi of the Camera, without using the bluetooth first, I don't know how you achieve it.&lt;BR /&gt;I wish that was working because switching from bluetooth to Wi-Fi is super slow (40s).&lt;/P&gt;</description>
