topic Which macOS version is compatible with EOS Utility for EOS 5D Mark II? in Camera Software

Hello,

I see that we are all having a lot of problems with Mac and EOS Utility. I currently have Sequoia and am going to downgrade. But I don't remember which version I had before, which did work with EOS Utility.

Does anyone have a CANON 5D MARK II with MacOS and is using EOS Utility without any problems?

Can you share exactly which versions you are using? MacOS and EOS.

This isn't the first time that it has stopped working after an update. While it's not working, I'm using the DSLR Assistant app (for those who might find it useful), but remote view recording is not the same quality.

Thank you very much.

PS: Sorry if I'm repeating the topic, but I find there's a lot of debate and little clarity. I hope this thread can serve as a clear roadmap of what is currently working for 5D MARK II with EOS Utility and MacOS.

Warmly,
Ana

By looking at the 5D Mark II support page the latest version of macOS that shows a download for EOS Utility is macOS 10.14 - Mojave.

I have EOS R5 and EOS 80D. I hope some of this might be helpful.

EDIT: I have used gphoto2 free software for remote shooting with older cameras, but on Linux and have not tried it on macOS. Instead of a downgrade of macOS, it might be possible to run the older version in a virtual machine without downgrading the main OS.

I have EOS Utility Version 3.19.0 (3.19.0.12) on macOS Sequoia 15.5 on a 2019 iMac.

EOS Utility works well for me with both cameras using USB cables. After some macOS updates, I have needed to change USB ports or reboot my iMac one extra time. Once, long ago, I had to delete and re-install EOS Utility.

So far as I can guess, most of the problems others have are likely to be related to USB port permissions or other software grabbing control of the USB port.

Apple "image capture" also works and even works with my EOS Rebel T1i (EOS 500D) although that camera is no longer supported by EOS Utility.
