Help With Downloading Firmware

All,

I have had a R6M2 for two weeks. I looked in the Support area last night and there is a Firmware update for the R6M2. I have a Mac Mini and a PC desktop. Last night I download this software update to my desktop on the Mac Mini, But I do not know what to do now. I am not the sharpest tool in the shed concerning updating or downloading software.

I would appreciate if somebody could provide me step by step information so that I can download this software to my R6M2. Either the Mac Mini or the PC will be wonderful. I looked at the instructions on the Canon website about downloading this firmware, but it was not very helpful.

The file you download from Canon is a compressed archive, usually a .DMG on the Mac and a .ZIP on the PC. You need to uncompress this file, by double clicking on it to get to the firmware that is inside the archive file.

You should find the firmware file itself R6215000.FIR and the folder called update procedure with PDF files in several languages.
Take the memory card from the camera, and put it in the computer SD card slot. It will then appear as another external drive. Copy the firmware file R6215000.FIR only to the top level of the card, do not put it in any subfolder.
Once the firmware is copied to the card, eject the card from the computer & put it in the camera. It's a good idea to remove any other cards, and also the lens at this point.
Select P (program) mode on the mode dial on top of the camera
Press Menu and navigate to the yellow "wrench" menus, and to the Firmware option at the end of page 6.
Press SET to select firmware, then the camera reads the firmware from the card and shows you if it is different from your current version. Click on the button to proceed. You may need to use the main dial (just behind the shutter button) or the quick control dial 1 (on the back of the camera) to move the selections and then press the SET button to choose the options.
Once the firmware progress screen shows, put the camera down without knocking any buttons, and go make a coffee (other drinks also acceptable). It will take about 5 minutes to complete the update.
Once the update is complete press the SET button to confirm and the camera will restart with the new firmware.
