EOS Utility 3.16.11 won't install on MacBook M4

I have a Canon EOS 250D / Rebel SL3 DSLR that I had hooked up to my PC as a webcam using the EOS Utility and it worked great. I recently upgraded to a 2025 MacBook air with M4 and am trying to get the EOS Utility 3.16.11 to install and it extracts the files, has me select the country and, when I hit next...nothing happens.

I updated the firmware on my camera, restarted the Mac, and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Hello.

The EOS Utility is not used to live stream. You would need to use the EOS Webcam Utility Pro, which can be found at https://canon.us/ewu

The current version for macOS is 2.3d

Awesome, thank you! I installed the utility and my camera still doesn't show up as an option in any webcam tool and I can't see the camera in the utility the way I could previously.

There is a paid subscription option for advanced features, but you can use the basic features for free. It's been this way for over two years.

Excellent, thanks! I still don't see any way to add my camera or select it to use. It doesn't show up in any of my system settings and I don't see any way to add it within the utility

Greetings brianwpiper,

If the EOS Webcam Utility is not recognizing your EOS Rebel SL3 camera, then let's check the camera's Wi-Fi function prior to connecting the camera to your computer with a USB cable. When the Wi-Fi function is enabled, even when it is not in use, it will disable the camera's USB port. After disabling the camera's Wi-Fi function, proceed to connect the camera to your computer with the USB cable. If the EOS Webcam Utility is still unable to recognize the camera, then let's check to see if the computer can detect the camera. Open Apple's Image Capture app that is pre-installed on your computer. If the app detects the camera, then let's quit the Image Capture app and check and quit any other app that may be running that is attempting to communicate with the camera. In case the Image Capture app is unable to see the camera, then let's test a different USB cable, or check to see if a different computer is able to recognize the camera. This would help to determine if there is an issue with the cable you are using or something on the computer that is preventing the camera from communicating with the computer.

Thanks so much, NatalyaP! Very helpful. My wi-fi settings are off on the camera. I was able to access my camera through Image Capture and see the photos that I have on the camera. I was also able to open remote live view on the Canon app and see my video! YAY!!

The problem is that the camera doesn't show up as a camera option on Zoom or Google Meet. How do I get it to be recognized by those applications?

Thanks again and sorry for the delayed response, I was out of the country and didn't have access to my camera setup.
