Rebel T2i - Won't connect to Macbook and EOS Utility won't install

Hello;

First I"m using an Rebel T2i. Trying to connect to a MacBook via usb. A direct connection doesn't work as it did with a different Rebel camera. Canon community search says use the EOS Utility. I download the utility app (a chore as there seems to be a few versions of the same app). I install the app and when starting up it tells me to "install the app"! I try to chat with support to find out that I need an account. I attempt to create an account and am told "error".... 5x! So; I'm stuck. Apparently Canon is non functional today.

What is the procedure to connect the camera to the computer? What software do I need? Pulling my hair out right now..

I'd appreciate your help. Thanks...

Greetings,

What version and build of MAC OS are you running?

What version of the EOS Utility are you trying to install?

Are you sure the cable you are trying to use is compatible?

With the camera connected and powered on, does it appear in Image Capture when connected?

Hi Rick;

I'm using Sequoia 15.4.1. I was after Utility 2. I ended up with 3; which kept saying to install 2.

The cable I'm using is a Canon cable; which came with the camera. I've not tried to use it before however. And; yes, the camera does appear in Image Capture. You can see I'm trying to use v3, but am told to install v2.

Plug in the camera and run Image Capture to see if the camera shows up.

It does now. I do still believe the Utility app should be functional...
