I am ploughing through the Apple documentation on how to edit spatial video:

https://support.apple.com/guide/final-cut-pro/stereo-and-spatial-video-editing-workflow-ver3d865d8a4/11.0/mac/14.6

So far don't see any mention of the Canon RF5.2mm F2.8 dual fisheye.

With all of the requirements of Spatial Video it is a steep learning curve. Wondering if anyone has tried it and can suggest a workflow.

After a long call with an excellent FCP Apple support analyst we determined that there is no native FCP support for the 2 Canon dual fisheye lenses.

The file must first be converted by the Canon EOS vr utility. The resulting file can be edited in FCP and Davinci and exported to the Vision Pro.

Looking at the Apple new release

https://www.apple.com/newsroom/2024/11/final-cut-pro-11-begins-a-new-chapter-for-video-editing-on-mac/

it is there in very small print in a footnote:

Spatial video clips can be captured directly with Vision Pro, or on iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Pro, and Canon’s new RF-S7.8mm F4 STM DUAL lens paired with Canon EOS R7.7

"Requires processing with Canon’s EOS VR Utility v1.5."

The new Compressor (4.9) can inject spatial metadata (including IPD) into the VR Utility-converted video, BUT it doesn't support any equirectangular transformations, and you can't specify the FoV greater than 90 degrees. So basically, AVP will play the video (in stereo), but it will look distorted. I wish Canon would stop ignoring their VR lenses and make either a proper conversion tool or at least give the users some instructions... Thanks.
