I have a Rebel XS/1000D I'd like to use for stop motion. I know the unit is out of service so the current EOS Utilities doesn't recognize it. Is there an aftermarket solution or should I try and find a disc?

In the past, I have used this free software on Debian Linux to control a camera connected by USB cable. It continues to work with very old cameras. gphoto2 or digikam

I do not use Windows for the last 8 years, but digikam is available for Windows as well as macOS and Linux.

https://www.digikam.org/ https://www.digikam.org/about/features/

https://github.com/gphoto/gphoto2

The gphoto2 software is also available for macOS through macPorts: https://ports.macports.org/port/gphoto2/details/

The imagecapture app that comes with macOS might also work.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPhoto

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigiKam
