Latest version is 1.0.7. It is important that you update from 1.0.5 because that one has a serious bug.

SHA256 checksum for the exe file 1.0.7 is

25be440e2269c7c87f2905aaaf5766ade32c1c9e839f0cc34494c9eaf8bee207 e6kr5107.exe

It means that if you find 1.0.7 and get the same sha256 checksum it is safe. EOSCard has the firmware and it has the same checksum as the one from Canon that I have downloaded.

The only method Canon has to verify the download is the file size.

Thank you. I am having trouble locating the firmware. Could you provide a link to the download?

Thanks again,

I was looking for this answer and found it elsewhere. The firmware can be found on the Wayback Machine here: https://web.archive.org/web/20170202033106/http://web.canon.jp/imaging/eosd/firm-e/eosdigital5/data/e6kr5107.exe

Release notes are here: https://web.archive.org/web/20221206174403/https://www.usa.canon.com/support/canon-product-advisories/adv-rebelxs-firm107-miscpage

EOS Utility cannot be used for cameras this old. You have to manually copy the .fir to a properly formatted SD card, and follow the "Use The Card Reader" instructions here: https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/s/article/ART180770

This update appears to have fixed a constant Error 99 after taking 1-12 photos. So far so good. Hope this helps someone.
