I am pretty sure that this is a choice made by the software engineers to limit to 5s and require automatic transfer of images to the computer.

You might want to take a look at another software trigger for your setup. In the past a software engineer in the UK create a lot of applications using the Canon developer kit to do things that were not possible with the standard EOS Utility. I've just done a search and he has transferred the business to a company called We Fly Kites in Wilmington DE. It is possible they would know if there's a solution for your requirements.

I am trying to setup the R6 mk2 to work remotely on the EOS Utility. I know the the camera will happily shoot at 1s interval however the EOS Utility has a minimum of 5s interval. I also see that I cannot set interval on the camera when connected. I intend to use the camera remotely in an underwater housing so using another plug-in external intervalometer isn't possible.

I also have no need for the images to transfer to my computer - the card is more than sufficient - yet it insists that transfer to computer is enabled for interval shooting.

These are 2 really simple things that Canon can either offer a work around for or update EOS Remote to cater for.

Welcome to the forum. Let’s review how the internal intervalometer works.

The internal Intervalometer does not define an interval time between shots. It is completely unrelated to shutter speed in your exposure settings.

The internal intervalometer defines the interval time between firing of the shutter. If the interval is set for 10 seconds, then it will blindly attempt to fire the shutter every 10 seconds.

I know that may sound like double talk, but it makes a significant difference when you get into longer and longer shutter times, like on the order of seconds. Your interval time must be longer than your shutter speed plus the time it takes to save the image to the memory card.

Some NR settings can cause the camera to capture a second long exposure. This means a one second exposure may take at least two seconds to complete because the camera captures to images, using one for noise reduction processing. You would probably need an interval that is at least three or four seconds long.

——————————————-

I have never tried to use the EOS Utility on a PC, or Canon Connect on a smart device, to set up the intervalometer. I did not know that you could. I have not updated either app in about a year.

I have around 600k images from 5d mk iv, R5 and R6 mk 2 with their internal intervalometers firing at 1s intervals for hours on end (shooting at 1/250th due to flash sync and camera constantly moving) I am very aware of the way the internal intervalometer works and its capabilities. The fact that EOS Remote does not allow the camera to be used to its full ability is the issue.
