You DO NOT NEED ANY SOFTWARE just to download photos to your computer. Windows 11 is no different than Windows 10, 8 or 7 in this regard.

When you connect camera to computer the camera shows up as a drive in Windows File Explorer (you may have to disable WiFi on the camera if you have it). Then you just open the camera "drive". There's a DCIM folder which contains your photos. Drag & drop them to wherever you want on the computer.

Many people think you need EOS Utility to get photos off the camera. Not true, EOS Utility can be confusing and it leaves you wondering where the files went if you didn't pay attention to what it shows. Don't bother with it unless you want EU for remote-controlling the camera.

You can also just take the memory card out of the camera, put it in a USB card reader, plug into the computer. Open the card reader "drive" and move files. Many folks prefer to do this rather than a USB connection. I prefer the USB way.

I know that there is the option to copy directly the contents of the folder DCIM and drop the photos wherever we want. But I prefer the option of downloading the pictures using a software program, because in this way the pictures are copied into folders according to the date of shooting.

I may have a memory card with pictures taken on many several dates. When downloading the pictures, the software program will create folders for each of the shooting dates and will copy the pictures to those folders accordingly.

For example, the following folders may be created when downloading the pictures :
2023 \11\ 03
2023 \15 \ 03
2023 \18 \ 05 and so on

To me this is an easy way to arrange my photos according to the date of shooting,
without needing to do it manually.

My camera is a Canon 6D and I use Windows 11 on a desktop computer.

You can go to the Canon Support page for the 6D and download EOS utility HERE. You will initially have to go into Preferences and set up the auto download parameters.

You say that are running a desktop computer, correct? Those error suggest that there is a hardware issue with your desktop. Installers are written by Microsoft. Canon simply builds a dialog box for you to click on.

There are both software and hardware prerequisites to run the Canon applications. Just because your computer is able to run Windows 11 does not mean it is fully compliant.

I dón't think that the requisites for installing EOS Utility are higher than those for Windows 11.
I tend to think that Canon software is not enabled for Windows 11

FWIW, I have two laptops running fresh installs of Windows 11 (Pro and Home) with EOSU installed, and runs fine. I sometimes use it for remote shooting.

You are correct on your first statement. Incorrect on the second. I run EOS Utilities 2 and 3 in Windows 11, on laptop computers that don't even meet Microsoft's requirements for Win 11. Have installed them many times in Win 10 and 11 and have never had the problem you are seeing.

Go to Settings->Apps->Installed Apps and see if there are any entries for EOS Utility. Uninstall them. Restart computer and try EU install again. Where did you download EU from? Download it again. You may have a faulty download.

I might be wrong, but I think you have to download the version of EOS Utility that is specific to your model of camera.

Are you sure you are downloading the right one?

The computer doesn't know or care what camera you will be using. If you install the wrong EU for your camera, It will tell you when you RUN it.

True, the OP has not said what camera he/she has.

That forum member was able to successfully install the Canon apps from the original Digital Solutions Disk.
