topic DPP 4.18.1.0 crashes while opening folder containing edited HDR HEIC image (macOS) in Camera Software

I'm running DPP Version 4.18.1.0 on macOS Sonoma 14.1.1 (on a Mac mini M2 (2023)).

After uploading an HDR HEIC (.HIF) image (from an EOS R5 camera) using the EOS Utility 3, I scaled the image using the macOS Preview application in order to reduce the resolution by a factor of 2/3. When I launched DPP (which was pointing to the folder that contained the original image and subsequently contained the edited image), the program immediately crashed. I suspect an incompatibility between Canon's and Apple's implementation of the HDR HEIC standard.

- Pie Lover

P.S. Although I didn't try it, scaling the image using DPP (rather than Preview) should work as expected.

Canon customer support has indicated that the current version (4.18.1.0) of DPP is not compatible with macOS 14 (Sonoma). An updated version will be posted to the support site once available.

- Pie Lover

Hi, I have R6 MK2 and have installed the EOS utility 3 app on my Mac Mini 2 so that I can instal the latest firmware V1.5. But the EOS 3 app either won't open or crashes immediately.

After installing the eos 3 app, I restarted my mac but nothing happens. I connected a SD card to my mac and opened the firmware on my desktop and attempted to "drag n drop" onto the SD card, a message read that the firmware already existed on the SD card but on checking, it's empty. Iv'e also attempted to connect my R6 direct to my Mac Mini 2 but all I get on the camera screen is the Mac and Keyboard silhouette with no link up to my Mac. I'm virus free but now at a loss how to proceed.

My OS is Sonoma 14.7.1 I know that's replaced by Sequoia but it was so "buggy" that Iv'e stayed with Sonoma and the Eos utility included OS Sonoma too.

Any help or advice much appreciated
