EOS Utility 3 (3.17.2) not recognizing R5 (1.8.1) on Mac ventura (13.4.1)) via USB

My max does not recognize my R5 after a max is update. EOS Utility 3 (3.17.2) not recognizing R5 (1.8.1) on Mac ventura (13.4.1)) via USB.
the eos utility error says to turn off other program accessing the R5 and restart. I don’t see any other obvious program starting.
the download worked fine on the past.
any thoughts on how to solve this problem?

Try deleting all the Canon software, rebooting, reinstalling, and rebooting again.
