Yes, EOS Utility 2 and 3 can both exist on a computer. The appropriate one will open for the connected camera.

But.....you don't need EU or any other software to download from camera to computer. When you connect them via USB the camera should show up as a drive in Windows, or on the desktop of a Mac. You open it, open the DCIM folder, and you should see your files, which you then drag & drop to wherever you want them to go.

You can tell EU NOT to automatically open when a camera is connected.

I am trying to download the EOS 2 Utility for my Canon NON WIRELESS 60D so I can get the photos off the memory card. The computer I use already has EOS 3 Utility downloaded for my Canon mirrorless M50 Mark II. Is there any way to have both utilities on the same computer?

When I plug in the cable on my Canon 60D to download the photos, I see an error message on my Desktop that reads "EOS Utility Launcher/Application not installed/ Please install EOS Utility 2." I have the original CD for EOS Utility 2 and have installed the version on the CD, which is version 24.1 with the EOS Utility listed as 2.10 and Zoom BrowserEX version 6.7. When I open ZoomBrowser EX "Acquire & Camera Settings" then "Acquire Images from Memory Card" the error message says there is no image, but I can see the images on the camera. Is there a way to download EOS Utility 2 at the same time as having EOS Utility 3 on my computer? I have had no problems with downloading photos from my Canon 60 BEFORE I downloaded the drivers for my M50 Mark II. I am using Windows 10.

This works for downloading photos from both cameras--hooray! But after downloading, the Photos file of WIndows 10 keeps "Looking for nre photos and videos", can't find any, and cannot be cancelled--meaning clicking on the cancel button does nothing--even when the camera is turned off. The only way to get rid of it is to use the X and close the Photos folder entirely.

You have to install EOS Utility 2. Version 2.14.20 is on Canon 60D Support.

AGAIN, just to download pictures from camera to computer, you DON'T NEED EOS Utility at all. Disable EU's "Start EOS Utility automatically when camera is connected". From then on, after connecting, look at "This PC" in Windows and you will see a drive named "Canon EOS 60D". Open it to see the DCIM folder. That's where your pictures are. Just drag them to move or copy to wherever you want them.

Respectfully Disagree.

I have 12 years of 60D photos automatically saved in directories named with date/time by UTIL2.

Sure, I COULD replicate that feature manually after the drag&drop.

Have you considered simply removing the card from the computer and using a USB drive on your computer to upload the images? It will be faster than the USB connector on the 60D and likely the 5DII, and just as simple to do. Then you don't have to worry about software at all.

I'm sorry I didn't thoroughly explain myself.

There is a feature of UTIL2 image transfer that I require: Destination Folder and subfolder creation, as described within the "Preferences Tab". This is far beyond the simple drag-and-drop workaround as suggested.

UTIL2 interrogates the actual EXIF data and creates multiple subdirectories inside my CANON directory. I request shooting year\month\date and the format YYYY-MM-DD the configuration settings tabs, then UTIL2 reads and writes, neatly organizing my archive.

I could create these multiple directories manually, but that negates any speed advantage over USB manual transfer. Obviously, the issue isn't the transfer itself, it's the benefits of using an official CANON utility, built for the purpose. I also use the camera control feature.

Perhaps you can suggest a more appropriate thread in which this dialoge belongs. I will be embarrased if there is one already. Better yet, a suitable download utility that will replace UTIL2.

Thank you for your expertise

The most appropriate action is actually to start your own thread, please. It confuses everyone when we get different people creating their own posts and looking for solutions - we get crossed interchanges, as in this case where I was addressing the OP. Each needs to be dealt with separately even if they seem the same. At this stage 2 people including yourself have engaged in the thread started by svjphotog.
