1. I am not aware of any drivers for Canon cameras

2. the software notes for the firmware downloads describe what they do. You can decide if you want to download or not.

If your camera includes Canon Log, which costs extra, then do not download any of the free firmware updates. A camera body with Canon Log must be updated by Canon.
