I don't want to connect the camera thru a USB cable.. lastly is there a similar Canon software to do the same??...I know the EOS Utility but that's not what I'm looking for... using Canon 6dMkII.. 80d..60d SX50HS

I think most to us would agree that if you want to just upload images to your computer, the simplest and arguably the most efficient, is to remove the card from your camera, and plug it into a SD reader attached, or part of your computer.

The OS File Manager will see it as a removable drive and then you just copy the files across to whatever drive(s) you want. No special cables, no draining the camera battery to do so and the downloads should be the fastest to boot!

Canon stopped releasing updates to ZoomBrowser several years ago. If it worked for you on a Windows 10 machine, than I think that was a really happy accident.

I know that Canon discontinued ZB a while back including any updates.. I have it on 4 PC's running Windows 10.. I know a few people who also have it running on their Win 10 PC's.. then it ended on my new Win 11 laptop..

been using ZB for many many thousands of pics to d/l to my PC's.. I know the File Manager way to do it as you stated.. but it just works best for me using ZB by inserting the SD card in the slot.. up pops the ZB window to d/l.. choose 'new' images from the card.. hit the d/l button and it puts them in a nice consecutive dated file using year_ month_ day format.. so e-z.. oh well.. I guess 'one must adapt' .. thanx 🙂

I copied the Canon contents from the CD using my Dell Desktop PC to a USB thumb drive.. I inserted the thumb drive into my new HP Envy 13" Laptop with Windows 11 .. I installed the Universal Installer and just the Image Browser EX software... it works the same as my old ZoomBrowser EX.. when I insert an SD card into a USB card reader into my Win 11 laptop I have it setup in Autoplay to d/l to Image Browser EX.. I can choose the same options as my old ZB with the window that shows up.. All.. New.. etc.. and it's setup to d/l into chronological dated folders with Year_Month_Day to keep my folder hierarchy the same as I've done for many years..

I just found a successful way to install ZoomBrowser EX on my new windows 11 laptop. I did a search and found a site that offers a zipped file, title is ZB660INST_E. I downloaded it, it self extracted, installed itself, and It WORKED!!

I can now view all my pics as I prefer with Zoom Browser. As a side note it is the version 6.6.0.23. Version 6.6.

I hope this helps someone !!

This is odd. If ZB installed when you copied the files from CD to a flash drive, there's no reason it should not have installed from the CD. What DID happen when you tried from CD? Did Windows give you any error messages?

I didn't have the orignal disk CD so copied from the program files. I get that the registry has to change which is why it didn't work. I also downloaded the newer version off the canon site which did not work. I got as far as inputting the country, then it gave me error message not a valid install. I tried so many ways! Then tried to hook up a camera to access the software download, nope. Now I wish that my older design programs would work in win11. I use coreldraw X5 and Adobe CS5.....nope.

As BoosMom has said the actual solution (for those WITHOUT the CD, eg people like me buying a 7D second hand, is to search for ZB660INST_E)

I searched for "canon ZB660INST_E" via Google and the first two results had the file which was virus checked and installed successfully on a Windows 11 PC.

I don’t recommend using any version of ZoomBrowser that was not downloaded from the official Canon websites. Just because you don’t see the app available for Windows 10 or 11 doesn’t mean it’s unavailable.

The website allows you to select a version of Windows. Try selecting an older version until you see the Solution Disk or ZoomBrowser itself. Good luck!

You misunderstand, it's not about Windows versions - the version available on the Canon website expects (and asks for) the orginal software CD purchased with the camera to install ZoomBrowser and a lot of people will not have the CD esp. if they bought a Canon second-hand and so will be UNABLE to install the software provided on the Canon website.

Regardless, the link I posted earlier today has been removed so I won't post it again.

You don’t need CD or a CD drive. You can download the image to your hard drive.

https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/eos-50d

Hi! If you can't find this disc, it's broken, lost, or you purchased your camera second-hand, your computer doesn't have a disc drive (whose does?), you can get the EOS Digital Solutions Disc at https://canon.us/EOSDigitalSolutions

This software is only available to current owners of Canon EOS digital cameras. To help prevent unlicensed downloading, we require that you enter the serial number from the bottom of your camera. If you can't read the serial from the bottom of the camera, it should be visible in the EXIF/Metadata of an image taken with the camera.

Hello. Thanks for the link. That is a zipped exe file containing the software contained on the original CD disk but I think not an image of the disk itself. The software is (expectedly!) quite old and the version of ZoomBrowser is incompatible with Windows v11 and prob. v10 too - It did try to install it but with it finished with errors and it didn't run - it relies on Microsoft Silverlight being installed which is depreciated and no longer supported.

All this said, I have a working copy of ZoomBrowser from the link I orginally posted but was removed and I really don't need assistance, I was trying to be helpful to others. I fully agree that software should be downloaded from the manufacturer whereever possible. I am grateful for your attempts to assist.

I must admit. I have no idea what tou are talking about. Silverlight was a plugin for MS Internet Explorer. It was discontinued when MS Edge was released.

Development for ZoomBrowser stopped years ago. It is not compatible with Windows 11 at all. We recommend using the photo transfer utility built into your computer's operating system instead.

If, however, you are on Windows XP or Windows 7, you can download the full version of the disc at https://canon.us/EOSDigitalSolutions

If you need help installing the software on a supported Operating System, support can help at 1-800-OK-CANON (800-652-2666).
