Cannot update BG-E22 battery grip firmware

I have a Canon BG-E22 battery grip on my EOS R5 and EOS R6. Both battery grip firmware versions are Ver.1.0.0.

I've tried to update to the latest firmware version Ver.1.1.0 however it doesn't update on either camera. I've copied the firware BGE22110.GFU to one of the 2 cards in both computers, go to the Firmware section in the MENU, select the Battery Grip (which shows that the current firmware is Ver.1.0.0., press the SET button and gett the following message:

Update battery grip
Memory card dontaining frimware is required to update OK

It never updates! How do I get this to work?

BG-E22 is for EOS R

BG-R10 for EOS R6 and EOS R5.
