Sony tripod focus and zoom controls incompatible with EOS R10 w/ EF-EOS R adapter

I recently purchased a Canon R10 camera to replace an older model. The older model took the EF lens series, so I purchased an EF-EOS R "mount adapter" (not the "control ring mount adapter") for my older lenses. My Sony tripod was capable of controlling focus and zoom on my old camera, but does not work with the new camera and the mount adapter. I'm wondering if there's something in the mount adapter that is not allowing the signals to get from the handheld control on the tripod to the lenses. I don't know if it would be any different had I purchased the "control ring mount adapter". The Sony tripod is simple to use and sturdy enough for my use. I'd like to keep it if possible.

My other option seems to be the Canon BR-E1 or BR-E2 Bluetooth wireless remote controllers. I could still use my Sony tripod for the camera. My concern is that I will still lose the functionality of the remote controller thru the mount adapter. Can anyone tell me if the mount adapter is causing me to lose functionality in the lenses, or if it would be any different with the control ring mount adapter?

The control you had with the Sony tripod and Sony camera does not exist for the Canon camera.

Even the lens control feature of the BR-E2 (which does not exist for the BR-E1) requires certain lenses as well as the Power Zoom adapter.

Didn’t say that. The Canon Bluetooth remotes will provide remote operation of the shutter button. Half-press will start metering and actuate focus, assuming lenses is set to AF. Full press will take a photo. Just like if you were directly operating the camera. Independent of using EF or RF lenses. It will not be through the tripod.

The Canon BR-E2 can control Canon lenses with power zoom capability (of which there are only a few). Would also require a special power zoom adapter. I suspect your EF lens is not a power zoom lens.

I suspect that tripod is likely an aluminum model and maybe heavy? Current lightweight carbon fiber tripods are much more pleasant to handle, particularly with the R series mirrorless cameras which are light.
