I've never seen a problem like that. My M5 has never had any issues with any card, even when using the PowerShot firmware.

Actually I haven't had many card errors at all since 2005. One time with 40D, one time with S3 IS and one time with an Eye-Fi card that I had to let SD Formatter overwrite completely.

Based on the write speed performance I suppose that Canon uses the same parts for beginner cameras and pro cameras. 1100D and 5D III for example.

I bought my canon 2000d in a bundle with a sd card. Now i changed my Phones 64 GB sd card to a 128gb one and now i have free will of using the 64 GB one. Its a Micro one that comes with an Adapter (which is the same size of the card that fits into the camera). I am now asking, can i change my 16GB card from inside my camera to the Micro SD card with 64 GB matched with the Adapter.

Your camera wasn’t designed for adapted SD Cards. They also cause lots of issues so I wouldn’t bother doing it. Also 64GB is a lot space and your camera cannot handle cards that large. Even though the manual states it’s “compatible” it’s not. Large capacity SD Cards in entry level cause all sorts of problems with cameras locking up or hanging. I would stick with your 16GB SD Card. At max 32GB any bigger you’ll have problems with your camera. If you need more space use multiple smaller SD Cards. Not a large capacity one that could fail and you loose all your pictures.

I would only add to store your photos on a computer, not on the memory card in the camera.

Yes, you can. Your camera supports SDXC cards. For optimal write speed performance, it's recommended to perform a low-level format before use.

Actually lower end camera such as the EOS Rebel T7 has problems with cards larger than 32GB. We see this time and time again where they cause cameras to hang and lockup for no reason. Once a smaller card is used the problems go away. The manual says it’s “compatible” but clearly it’s not.

It only affects Rebels cameras without the “I” in the name like the EOS Rebel T6. Or any older camera prior to the release of SDXC SD Cards. I’ve never seen this issue with higher end cameras or R or M series bodies either. The EOS 40D uses CF Cards instead of SD Cards that later cameras such as the EOS 60D uses. I don’t know if the EOS 40D has a card capacity limit. I use 4GB or 8GB CF Cards in my EOS 40D but the file sizes are much smaller than cameras today. I don’t use my camera a storage device. It’s not designed to be used as one. I have a 2 TB SSD for that.

The problem with my 40D may have been the contacts. Never had a problem with that card after that.

“ I've never seen a problem like that. My M5 has never had any issues with any card, even when using the PowerShot firmware. “

The forum has seen many posts about card errors from members using a cxxxD body or its Rebel equivalent. I ran into issues with my T5. The T3i I had bought for my son had no issues.

Despite what the manual may say about SDXC compatibility, my T5 didn’t like my SanDisk Extreme Pro 64 GB cards. The same cards worked perfectly in my 6D.
