Hello,

I have a canon EOS 600D and i need to increase its battery life for taking videos up to an hour and a half. I watched a video connecting a ANKER 9v power bank to the camera highly increasing the cameras battery life, could this ruin the camera in any way ? On the long term as well.

Is your camera able to record a video for that length of time? Or does it stop at 30 minutes?

The 600D/T3i records up to 29:59. Video recording would then have to be restarted manually.

You can use a dummy battery connected to AC or a DC (power bank) to power the camera for extended periods. Only caution. To protect the camera, the brand and quality of the dummy battery and adapter should be considered.

Yes, that is another limitatio imposed by the file system. You are limited to 4GB or 30 minutes, whichever comes first. Recording format can significantly vary the file sizes.

I had assumed that you were looking for continuous recording past 30 minutes. A secondary consideration for long recording sessions is the camera overheating. I am uncertain if the camera model provides a warning icon prior to shutting down. If not, it may just keep going until is overheats, resulting in ossicle damage to the electronics.

So it is probably not a good idea to do it ? There are no other solutions but to buy a new one

Greetings ,

The 600D/T3i includes a temperature warning icon indicator that will appear if the body gets too hot. It's discussed on page 139 of the user guide.
