I recently just got a MacBook Air and I'm trying to find a connector that goes from my canon rebel t7 to my computer. I bought a connector from amazon that fits both the MacBook and the camera but apparently it's not compatible and I can't transfer my pictures over. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated

Hello Kiararj,

You may want to ensure that the Wi-Fi is disabled on the camera, as the camera cannot be connected to a computer for communication via USB if it is. You can check that setting in the [Wrench tab 3: Wi-Fi/NFC] menu item of the camera. If you are just looking to download pictures to the computer, you can use a piece of software built into your Mac computer called ImageCapture located in your Applications folder to transfer photos and videos. If that doesn't work with the USB cable, there is one other thing that you can try. You would remove the card from the camera and put the memory card into a memory card reader. You can transfer RAW and JPEG images this way because you would be just copying the images directly from the card to the computer. Some computers come with card readers built in. If your computer does not have a card reader built in, you would need to purchase one. Memory card readers can be purchased at almost all photography and electronic stores and photo departments in your local department store. Card readers are relatively inexpensive. Most electronic stores carry them for $20 or less, and these card readers make it much easier to download pictures to your computer. When you purchase a card reader, be certain to select a card reader that can handle the same card (SD card) that your camera uses.

Does the MacBook Air HAVE a USB port? Exactly what kind of port does it have....Lightning, Thunderbolt, USB-C?

A cable physically fitting is not a guarantee it is electrically compatible.

USB-C.

An adapter like the Apple USB-C to USB-A MW5L3AM adapter should work fine.

The camera port is USB Mini-B. So a USB Mini-B to USB-C cable is needed.

You often already have the mini-B to USB-A cable.

The adapter I mentioned essentially gives you a USB-A port (an "OG" port) on a USB-C computer, which has more general usage than a USB-C to Mini-B.

It sounds like the OP might have gotten a dodgy USB-C to Mini B adapter. By using Apple's adapter, and a readily available cable, you can get a system that is almost guaranteed to work, in fact I have used it myself.
