If you are using a gimbal head, like the Wimberly style, and need balance I can understand using a lens foot for a tripod head like that. But if you are worried about stressing the mount with the very light RF 100-400, don't.

My wife has been using the RF 100-400 for well over three years on her R6 (now R6 II) without a tripod foot. This lens is very light, way lighter than the RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro, RF 50mm f/1.2L, and RF 15-35mm f/2.8L that we both use on our R5 and 6 series cameras while mounted on tripods. I only use a tripod foot with my longer heavy L telephotos.

When we do use a camera with the RF 100-400 that requires the balance of a gimbal, I attach one of the longer Arca-Swiss plates that I have to the camera and slide it forward on the camera then, when mounting, slide the rig back to shift the center of gravity. COG isn't hard to obtain with the light RF 100-400.

I'm still newer to using professional-grade photography equipment, so please bear with me if this is a silly/too obvious question.

I have an RF100-400mm Telephoto lens and need a mount ring to appropriately mount it on my tripod. Canon's online store offers a "Tripod Mount Ring & Adapter E(B)" that says it's compatible with the "RF100mm F2.8 L MACRO IS USM"

Would this adapter still work for an RF100-400mm F5.6-8 IS USM Telephoto lens? I figure it might since both are RF lenses, but the lens titles are different enough that I wanted to double check before dropping almost 200 bucks on an accessory.

I don't think a tripod attachment is available for that lens. Here are the accessories listed on the website:

I think you just need to use a sturdy tripod attached to the camera.

IShoot does make a series of Lens Collars for RF lenses and has one available for the RF100-400. I have one on my RF100-500 because the OEM was a bit wonky. I can post a direct link but this may help and it's much less then $200

I bought this for the lens foot of my long lenses and also use it on my Canon RF 200-800mm for my Wimberley II. But it works fine to balance the RF 100-400mm when attached to the camera (R6 II) body, for balance, on my Wimberley gimbal. It's almost 6" long.
