I’m not sure what you’re asking because you’re trying to frame the answer by how you ask the question.

There are a handful of communication protocols between devices. There are also a handful data transmission protocols.

Bluetooth uses a one-to-one communication protocol to transmit data serially. I can take a deep dive into the weeds to explain what that means, if you want.

short answer to your question is that a Bluetooth device can communicate with only one device at a time. Because Bluetooth uses a serial communication protocol data transfer isn’t very fast.

You will need a remote for each camera, or you will need to enable Bluetooth in only one camera at a time if you want to use one Bluetooth remote.

You need to pair the BR-E1 remote with both cameras individually using the relevant menus. You can use the same remote for both.

First off thank you for the reply.

I was wanting to know if for one if it would work with both for the reasons I listed, and two if I would have to change it each time going from one camera back to the other which from you everyone seems to be saying I will have to do.

At this time I only use one camera at a time, but when I go to photograph wild turkey this Spring I want to put the M50 into the field and cover it up so it is not seen and use it for closeups, but as I type this I realize that it would be smarter to use the cell phone to see what that camera is seeing and also to take the picture.

The easiest solution is to get a second remote; otherwise, you have to repair the remote when you switch cameras. If you don't use the M50 much then it might not be a big deal.

Right now it is a matter of funds, I have to get 3 more batteries, a case to hold 4 batteries and perhaps a smaller backpack, when I bought my X70 2 years ago I was still walking well and now I am on crutches, I want one that will carry my R5 mark ii, 100-400 L series lens, the batteries, memory cards, some extra clothes and gloves, and maybe the M50 and remotes for both. I have the idea of putting the M50 behind a couple of decoys and using it to film turkey or deer when they come to investigate the turkey decoys and calling. Oh I have to be able to carry some calls as well. I have kind of strapped myself buying the R5 mark ii so I have to be careful or I won't be eating. I also am selling some stuff so I can go take my girlfriends ashes and spread them at her family cabin like I promised her I would. May just end up getting the batteries, battery case, extra remote and have to pick up the smaller insert for my Shimoda X70 backpack so I can scale down, decoys I can leave in the blind. If I have to choose I will not get anything and will take her out to MI to spread her ashes as she wished, I will be taking her by train as she loved trains and we were supposed to take a train trip a month after she died to see the Fall leaves. I have never been on a train other than a Metro subway.
