camera battery even if it’s only around 40%? would it be bad for the battery or should it be fine? the reason is cause i might be going out and i don’t want to leave the house with the battery being half empty and i don’t really want to buy a new battery. cam and battery are brand new if anyone is wondering https://mobdro.bio/ . thanks!

I'm not actually sure I understand your post. It sounds like you have an older battery that might not be fully charging. If this is an older battery it might be due to age. It could also be the charger.

If having a reliable cameras important to you, I'd buy a new battery. The battery itself should have its model number printed on it. You also asked if it was okay using a battery that only charges to 40%. I would say no. I suggest you replace the battery.

It's been a long time since I've dealt with batteries that had what we then called "a memory" so that charging them before they were completely drained would change their ability to hold a charge over time. I think battery tech has changed quite a bit since then.

Although I'm not familiar with the Canon IXUS, I don't see why recharging its battery while it's at 40% would be a problem. I would still get a spare to use while you charge the other... It's just a good idea 🙂
