Hi and welcome to the forum:
There are actually 3 new battery grips for the R5II, but for the R5 and the R6 variants the correct grip is the BG-R20.
The other two grips offer cooling fans that work with the R5II's venting system that form part of the R5II's body, to enhance heat reduction of that 45MP sensor and processors, and to provide an Ethernet connection for enhanced connectivity.
You want the plain BG-R20.

I cannot find any difference in functionality between the BG-R10 and the BG-R20.]

Is there any reason for my upgrading my BG-R10 to a BG-R20?

The placement and feel of the controls is slightly different for the BG-R10 and BG-R20. This is due to the face that the EOS R5 and EOS R6 have the controls layout matched to the BG-R10 that was introduced with them.

When the EOS R6 Mark II was introduced it has slightly different control layout and button shape, but the old BG-R10 grip could be used. With the release of the EOS R5 Mark II, the new BG-R20 was introduced to be an ideal match for the controls on the EOS R5 Mark II and EOS R6 Mark II. It will also fit the older EOS R5 and EOS R6.

The short answer to your question is no.

As my colleague Brian indicates the R5II would not accommodate the BG-10, and and so to have just one battery grip manufactured that works with all versions of the R5, and the R6 variants, the BG-R20 is now the current model for all such new purchases.

Since you have a BG-R10 already working on your R6, I see no reason why you need to change to a BG-R20 as there is no benefit in doing so.

The old BG-R10 grip also physically fits the R5II, but the advantages of the more powerful power supply with the new batteries cannot be used.

The new BG-R20 fits both the old and the new R5II, but offers no advantages on the old cameras, except that it represents a future-proof investment for a later change.

I would suspect we shall see many future cameras come out with, and require, the higher-rated battery as they add more high-end and energy-intensive features, so we are all "singing from the same songbook".

The question posed was "Is the BG-R20EP a replacement for the BG-R10, and will it work with my Canon EOS R6?" I answered that quite specifically in my first post. The BG-R20EP is NOT a replacement for the BG-R10, the actual replacement is the BG-R20 - the other two variants offer specific features that are not present in the BG-R10 and that is my point - the R6 will not make use of the ethernet feature of the BG-R20EP, and it will cost significantly more than the base BG-R20 variant.

Given Canon advised some months ago that they have ceased producing BG-R10, the obvious advantage of the BG-R20 is that Canon actually manufacture them. I have not seen a BG-R10 for sale on their website for some time. As we all agree, getting an BG-R20 offers a higher level of security for the future.
